Derek was born and raised in the Tri-Cities and is proud to provide his expert audit and tax services locally. He grew up working at his family’s construction business and is familiar with the many challenges faced by family-run businesses. He is a proud father of three children and resides in Kennewick.

 

Derek is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and joined then Blodgett, Mickelsen & Adamson, P.S. as a manager in 2015. He graduated magna cum laude from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University with concurrent Master of Accounting and Bachelor of Science (Accounting) degrees. Derek is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and received an Excel Award from the Illinois CPA Society for his outstanding performance on the Uniform CPA Exam.

 

Derek worked for Grant Thornton LLP in Chicago, IL for six years in its audit practice, working with clients in a wide variety of industries including not-for-profits, financial services institutions and manufacturing companies. He has experience in audits under government accounting and Single Audits, initial audits and opening balance sheet audits, mergers and acquisitions, and providing valuations. Derek also gained international experience during a two-year contract in Birmingham, England where he provided support and advice on US financial reporting issues.

 

Derek has worked with numerous clients across the United States and Europe and has gained a vast knowledge of best practices within many industries. He can provide your business with resources to strengthen the internal control environment and improve cash management.
